This day was pretty unique in our style of traveling. We had already done everything on our itinerary and had a full day to improvise. Took a few last pics of our apartment. Here is our bedroom:
And the kitchen
Our Copenhagen Card came to the rescue. We looked at the sights it covered and picked two - The Jewish Museum and the Aquarium. Near the museum was an interesting fountain.
The Jewish Museum is a Daniel Liebskind designed space inside an old castle-like building. It makes for a wonderful experience with some interesting Judaica exhibits. The galleries were like a very contemporary "cave".
and a silver Hanukkah menorah
Next we headed on a suburban train out to the Aquarium, near the airport and the dramatic bridge to Sweden. It is in a futuristic building.
Well, much not to our surprise, we saw a lot of interesting fish and other water life - a spotted eel, for example. And then, all sizes and a rainbow of colors...
These seemed like "living hairy things"!
Before leaving, we looked out to see the famous bridge which is 5 miles long and connects to a 4 mile long tunnel before gettting to Sweden.
It is a
small cafe near Tivoli owned by a famous beer company - the food was unpretentious and wonderful. We
had lightly smoked salmon, hake and beef filet, paired with special
beers. They tasted even better then they look here!
The beer maker was recommended to us by our local beer guy, Drew. The beers were
really unusual. The first was naturally fermented and almost tasted
like wine--high acid, but really refreshing. The second was from Michigan, almost a light alcohol apple cider--crisp and light. The last beer
was dark and rich and chocolate-like, to go with the rich beef. It was a wonderful "real" meal to complete our Copenhagen stay.
Then on this cool drizzly night, we went to a concert at Tivoli--classical music in an old concert hall in the middle of the famous, beautiful amusement park. No pics allowed at the concert. This is the hall.
And a bit more of what Tivoli visually "feels" like:
And so, farewell to Copenhagen as we headed for our apartment with an early flight to Stockholm the next morning.
